Considered by many as "halfway to everywhere" because of its central location for travellers heading north, south, east or west, Gin Gin exudes a laid-back country atmosphere, shaded picnic areas and garden-lined streets. Historic buildings around town and the collections at the Gin Gin Museum are reminders of Queensland's pioneering past.

Vineyards and olive groves are emerging as new horticultural industries and these can be discovered as you explore the surrounding countryside. The nearby national parks may have unsealed roads but they offer panoramic drives and there's fishing, camping and watersports at Monduran Lake. This region is rich in history, including the tale of the wild Scotsman James McPherson who was also a bushranger, there is said to be a cave in which he initially avoided capture less than a hundred metres from the main road.

This beautiful landscape is punctuated with towering, ochre-coloured sandstone cliffs, gorges, caves, Aboriginal freehand art and incredible walks.

Find out about the park's wildlife, vegetation and history at the main picnic area beside pretty Three Moon Creek. There's eight walks there including the 300 metre return picnic area circuit along Three Moon Creek and a 1.4 kilometre return walk from the car park to mining relics at the historic Shamrock goldmine site. The longest track, 5.6 kilometres, takes in the Giant's Chair lookout. Watch for platypus in the creek and peregrine falcons soaring above cliffs. There's more 50 plant species and in excess of 90 species of birds and in spring the red kurrajong flowers in bloom. Don't miss Cania Lake, 11 kilometres from the picnic area. It sits on the banks of Three Moon Creek which is a tributary of the Burnett River.
