Drive South on the Bruce Highway to the charming township of Sarina and make your first stop at the fantastic Field of Dreams Parklands. The Field of Dreams Parklands is situated in front of Wilmar Plane Creek Sugar Mill and is also home to an array of interesting and historical attractions.

Begin your exploration by booking a tour through the Sarina Sugar Shed, Australia's only miniature sugar mill and distillery, to discover the journey of sugar, from paddock to plate.

Enjoy a coffee and sweet treat from the cafe before discovering the other attractions within the parklands, including the Sarina District Historical Centre, Sarina Arts and Craft Centre and Sarina Art Gallery.

Located in the old Sarina Court House, the Sarina Art and Craft Centre is home to an array of local hand-crafted treasures waiting to be discovered!

When in exhibition, the Sarina Art Gallery hosts a range of intricate and unique artwork, contributed by talented locals.

Next, head to Sarina Beach to feel the sand between your toes.

Drive to Sarina Beach to enjoy a waterfront lunch overlooking the golden sand and sparkling blue water at the nearby restaurant.

Afterwards, take a leisurely stroll along the coastline of Sarina's picturesque beach. Take in the wonderful sea breeze. The sound of the waves lapping the shoreline will be sure to lull you into deep relaxation and tranquility.

Head back into Mackay to visit Artspace.

Return to Mackay and visit Artspace, Mackay's architecturally famed art gallery, showcasing local and international art within a luxurious and modern space. Enjoy afternoon tea at the on-site cafe and take home a piece of art to treasure from the gift shop.

Stroll to the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre, or the MECC as it's known to the locals, and enquire about a show or event to see during your stay. Enjoy a performance followed by dinner at one of Mackay's award-winning specialty restaurants in the central business district.

Head to Bluewater Quay to take in impressive public art.

Take a stroll down Bluewater Quay meandering beside the Pioneer River on the Bluewater Trail. View impressive public art along the way, a showcase of the pioneering history of Mackay. Six impressive art installations by Fiona Foley can be viewed, as one of the most significant public art developments in Australia.

Enjoy brunch and marvel in beautiful blue-water views from a cafe, restaurant or bar overlooking the picturesque Pioneer River, one of only few blue water rivers in Australia and the only one in Queensland!

Continue your travels on River Street, where local art can be discovered in a grass-rooots art gallery, located in an old wharf warehouse, constructed in 1887. The gift shop features a range of artistic treasures, the perfect take-home memory from your in Mackay.

At the northern end of River Street, a large public artwork can be viewed beside Mackay's largest shopping centre. Enjoy an al fresco lunch or simply sit and gaze at the large sculptures which dominate the riverside landscape.

Make your way back into the Central Business District and visit the old Town Hall on Sydney Street. The building, originally constructed in 1912, is culturally significant as it provides a history of Mackay in the early twentieth Century. It now features an innovative artist's studio upstairs and hosts a regular schedule of events including artistic and heritage exhibitions, art classes and workshops.
