Take this cycling adventure to unlock the mystery of the turtle on this fun filled treasure hunt for the whole family to enjoy.
This uninterrupted foreshore bikeway winds along the Boyne River and links all of the local primary and high schools, shopping centres and primary community facilities by way of a fun puzzle to piece together on your journey.
Visitors and locals will learn about the turtle on this interactive journey which is a total length of 18 kilometres but you can take various parts of the path separately as detailed in the itinerary.
Boyne Island and Tannum Sands have a variety of park, playgrounds, fitness stations and barbecue areas located along the path with picturesque sights of the river on most of the journey.
Take your time, make a day of it and get out there and get active.
The Turtle Way Bikeway can be enjoyed from a variety of starting points dependent upon distances and what you want to achieve while on your walk, cycle, ride, scoot or run.

Bicycle, Car, WalkYou will need to cross the John Oxley Bridge which will take you to Tannum Sands. Then make a left turn as soon as you get over the bridge. You will end up along the foreshore and then can make your way up to the Canoe Point Botanic Reserve where you will find barbecues, playgrounds and amenities.

Bicycle, Car, WalkFrom Canoe Point follow the path all the way to where the Boyne River meets Wild Cattle Creek, this winds all the way along the river and is one of the most scenic uninterrupted parts of the path. There is a playground, barbecues and amenities as you reach The Esplanade so you can stop off or continue down to Wild Cattle Creek.

One wayAccess via Boyne Island Road and begin your journey in the Dennis Park Sports Complex winding your way past the golf club, Boyne Island Tannum club and caravan park, stop off at the fitness station for a break (or more work-out). Wild Cattle Creek is the perfect spot for Stand Up Paddle Boarding or Kayaking.

One wayFrom the John Oxley bridge turn right to wind down along the Boyne River foreshore to Tannum Sands High School. There are three recreational park areas that you can stop off at along your journey if needed.

One wayThis is where the turtle way begins to wind all along the Boyne River, so is very picturesque. Start at Malpas Street where it intersects with Bluewater Drive, you can stop off at Lions Park just before the bridge for a barbecue, play in the playground or fitness station work-out, continue past Boyne Island Primary School and Boyne Shopping Plaza before reaching the John Oxley Bridge.

One wayDon't cross the bridge if you want to get to Wyndham Park, instead continue alongside the river passing Bray Park which has a skate park and amenities before making your way up to Wyndham Park which has some playgrounds.
