Discover the sparkle of Queensland's sapphire country at the annual Jewel of the Gemfields — a vibrant three-day celebration of gemstones, outback culture, and community spirit in the heart of the Central Gemfields.

Held each August, the festival attracts visitors from across Australia to experience the excitement of sapphire fossicking, gem cutting demonstrations, jewellery displays, artisan markets, live music, and family-friendly entertainment. Watch skilled lapidary artists transform rough stones into dazzling gems, meet local miners, and purchase authentic sapphire jewellery and gemstones direct from the source.

Set in one of Australia's most unique gemstone regions, the event offers a genuine outback experience where visitors can try their luck fossicking for sapphires while enjoying great food, local hospitality, and a lively festival atmosphere.

The Jewel of the Gemfields is a must-visit event for gem enthusiasts, travellers, and families looking for a unique adventure in Queensland's famous sapphire fields
