The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum of Natural History is a prominent science-based not-for-profit museum and major tourist attraction located atop a towering mesa known as The Jump-Up, approximately 24km south-east of Winton in Central West Queensland.

The Museum focuses on preserving Australia's fossil past for future generations to learn from and find inspiration in. The Museum includes the most productive Fossil Preparation Laboratory in the Southern Hemisphere, the Reception Centre and Collection Room, Dinosaur Canyon – featuring life-sized bronze dinosaur dioramas, the "March of the Titanosaurs" exhibition – housing Australia's best-preserved sauropod tracksite, and the Gondwana Stars Observatory.

Tours are conducted hourly through the Laboratory, Collection Room and Dinosaur Canyon starting at 9am daily. The last full tour for the day leaves a 2pm. Half tours are available thereafter. The entire tour takes three hours.

Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before your tour start time so that you have time to purchase your tickets and to enjoy a cold or hot drink at the Cretaceous Café before your tour.

Dinosaur Stampede tour

The dinosaur trackways at Dinosaur Stampede National Monument were formed 95 million years ago, when Outback Queensland was a vastly different landscape. A herd of at least 150 small two-legged dinosaurs — including chicken-sized carnivorous coelurosaurs and slightly larger plant-eating ornithopods — came to drink at the edge of a lake.

Over 3,300 footprints are preserved in the rock, providing stark evidence of the panic that erupted when a large theropod arrived. This snapshot of a terrifying moment has been frozen in time, making Winton home to the only known dinosaur stampede in the world. This is an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
