Corella Dam is a fabulous spot for a picnic, some fishing, kayaking or a night under the stars camping. Enjoy bright blue skies mirrored against an expansive dam with bountiful wildflowers and wildlife.
On the lower side of the Corella Dam wall, you will find another campsite gem - Clem Walton Park. The park area is known for its shady trees and grassy banks that run down to the water's edge.
Both sites offer free camping and can be accessed by the same entry point.
Be sure to stock up in Cloncurry on supplies before you head out and check https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/water/catchments/state-owned-dams before heading out.
You will need to be fully self-sufficient. While in town, enjoy a relaxing meal and a spot of shopping too.
Heading towards Mount Isa, Corella Dam is just a short 45-minute drive from Cloncurry. Entry is via a 3km winding dirt road off the Barkly Highway. Please be mindful that the area is surrounded by private property, so leave gates as you found them and only footprints behind. Speak with the friendly staff at Cloncurry Unearthed Visitor Information Centre if you have queries about access to the dam.
