State Library of Queensland

Get in touch

State Library of Queensland is a globally recognised memory institution and cultural destination – a welcoming public space, open to all.

It preserves and shares collection items (not just books) that reflect Queensland's heritage, history, art, design and more.

Visitors can access computers, free Wi-Fi and study spaces, as well as enjoy a wide range of free and low-cost experiences, including: Exhibitions and tours, family activities in The Corner, First Nations programs in kuril dhagun — a safe space for First Nations communities to gather, share knowledge and celebrate culture, and creative workshops and meetups at The Edge — a dedicated makerspace featuring 3D printers and recording studios.

Together, these programs support lifelong learning, creativity and digital inclusion for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Located in Brisbane's cultural precinct overlooking the Brisbane River, between Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, State Library is an award-winning architectural icon. It is easily accessible by bus, rail and ferry, with paid parking available onsite, along with two cafés and a shop open daily.
