12 day one way itinerary featuring heritage stories, delicious local produce and incredible dinosaur attractions. Highlights of this tour include Girraween National Park and its balancing boulders, the village of Nobby - home to Rudds Pub, the picturesque garden city of Toowoomba and the heritage listed Jondaryan Woolshed.

Further west you may enjoy a therapeutic soak in the Great Artesian Basin, and experience Australia's most endangered animal. In Longreach experience the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Museum. Further north-west to Winton; join a day tour to view the worlds only fossilised dinosaur footprints. Travel to Mt Isa and tour the underground hospital before boarding your flight back to Brisbane.

Brisbane to Ballandean

Travel the Cunningham Highway via the quaint township of Aratula to Warwick, known for its roses and rodeo. Call into the Warwick Visitor Information Centre for a copy of the self-guided Heritage Buildings Trail. Continue your drive to Stanthorpe in the heart of Queensland’s premier food and wine region then travel the short distance to Ballandean and Girraween National Park.

Girraween National Park

Explore up to 17 kilometres of walking tracks through this spectacular park with its massive granite outcrops, balancing boulders and clear tumbling cascades. If you feel like a sweet treat after your walk, take a short drive to the nearby Wisteria Chocolate Shop or head to the Bramble Patch Berry Farm for a delicious ice-cream.

Girraween to Toowoomba

Travel back through Warwick and the quintessential country town of Clifton which has been used in a number of Australian movies including ‘The Thornbirds’. Just a short drive north of Clifton is the village of Nobby and the well known Rudd’s Pub, dedicated to author Steele Rudd. See the Sister Kenny memorial who lived in the area and was known for her revolutionary treatment for the victims of polio. Continue your drive to the Garden City of Toowoomba.

Take a leisurely stroll through the stunning Japanese Garden Ju Raku En, and the beautiful Queens Park with it's botanic gardens. Then join a tour of the Cobb+Co Museum and Whistle Stop tour of the Empire Theatre. Tonight dine in one of the many outstanding restaurants or historic pubs within walking distance of your accommodation.

Toowoomba to Roma

Head west towards Roma, and on the way visit the heritage-listed Woolshed at Jondaryan, the largest operating woolshed in the world. From Jondaryan, travel along the Warrego Highway towards Roma. During your stay in Roma learn the story of Australia’s early oil and gas industry with an entertaining outdoor light and sound presentation at Roma’s Big Rig.

Roma to Charleville

Travel the Warrego Way to Mitchell for a therapeutic soak in the ancient waters of the Great Artesian Spa. Continue your drive to Charleville, heart of the ‘mulga’ country. See the endangered Bilby at the Bilby Experience then view distant stars, planets and star clusters at the Cosmos Centre Night Show.

As your journey continues, call in to the pretty outback town of Tambo and visit the Tambo Teddies Workshop with its unique quality sheep skin teddy bears. Take a tour of the historic Blackall Woolscour, the last remaining steam operated wool washing plant in Australia, before arriving in Longreach late afternoon.

Discover Australia’s pioneering stories at the Stockman's Hall of Fame with it's themed galleries and art gallery, then watch the entertaining Outback Stockman’s Show. Take the guided Jets Tour comprising a tour of the Boeing 747 and 707 at the Qantas Founders Museum, then board the Longreach Explorer on a Drover's Sunset Cruise on the majestic Thomson River late afternoon.

Longreach to Winton

Board your Cobb & Co Stage Coach for an exhilarating gallop through the bush then explore the Kinnon & Co Station Store an impressive historic building, which dates back to 1880s, that is stocked full of outback products, gifts and souvenirs.

Continue your drive to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, just east of Winton for an interpretive tour of the largest collection of Australian Dinosaur fossils.

Winton

Join a full day tour to Lark Quarry to view the world's only recorded fossilised footprints of a dinosaur stampede from 95 million years ago. This site was once a streambed leading into a lake. The water level had dropped, exposing mudflats. When the dinosaurs stampeded, they left perfect footprints in the half dried and still plastic mud. Tonight have a real outback pub meal at the famous Tatts Hotel.

Winton to Mt Isa

Travel north west to McKinlay’s Walkabout Creek Hotel a true blue Australian pub established in the 1900's; made famous in the Crocodile Dundee movie. Learn the Royal Flying Doctor’s story at Cloncurry’s John Flynn Place, honouring an Australian visionary and those who joined his campaign for better living conditions in remote Australia, then continue to Mount Isa.

Mt Isa

Visit the Outback at Isa Centre and join an interactive tour of the Hard Times Mine and explore the history of mining. Tour the historic Underground Hospital constructed during March/April 1942 which was built by off-duty miners from Mount Isa Mines. Finally, take in 360-degree views at the City Lookout before joining a return flight to Brisbane.
