Perseverence is a peaceful rural area on the Darling Downs, about a 45-minute drive from Toowoomba, located east of Crows Nest and Pechey. It is the perfect place to enjoy a barbecue picnic while taking in the serene surroundings of Perseverence Dam.

A public park opposite Perseverence Lodge offers barbecue facilities and a playground, making it ideal for families. At the dam itself, the picnic grounds provide a lovely spot to admire the calm waters and the dramatic drop of the dam wall from the roadway above.

While Lake Perseverance is generally reserved for members of the Perseverance Aquatic Club or participants in organised activities run by the Queensland Government Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing, the area is still ideal for enjoying quiet riverside walks and picnics.

The nearby Lake Perseverance Active Recreation Centre, operated by the Queensland Government, provides accommodation and facilities for school and community group camps. It is an excellent base for outdoor education, organised activities, and group adventures.

The area enjoys a mild Darling Downs climate, with warm summers, cool winters, and pleasant autumn and spring days. The cooler months are perfect for outdoor exploration and picnics, while the warmer months are ideal for enjoying the dam and surrounding natural scenery.
