Coral Expeditions is a 33 year old Australian expedition cruise company. We operate and manage a fleet of 3 small ships taking guests to some of the most beautiful, yet undiscovered, regions of Asia-Pacific. Over 5,000 travellers from all over the world come to us every year for our relaxed small ship atmosphere and itineraries which larger ships cannot replicate. Our operations are bespoke and sometimes not commercially justifiable, but result in a more personal product.
At a time when the cruise industry is moving to larger and larger ships, we have limited the size of our ships to maximise the expedition experience. Our cuisine is prepared small batch on board, and while the style is down to earth, it reflects high quality Australian produce and wine. We operate to Australian standards of safety with Australian senior crew wherever we go. We were the first to offer interpretive programmes on our cruises and to employ Expedition Leaders, Guest Lecturers, Marine Biologists, and SCUBA Instructors – a tradition that continues today.
This 7-night expedition cruise is a rare adventure into the wilderness, showcasing the rugged coastal beauty and World Heritage Listed National Parks in the intimate comfort of our refurbished flagship, Coral Discoverer.
Become immersed in Tasmania’s breathtaking National Parks; from the perfect circular formation of Wineglass Bay, to the dramatic peaks of pink granite at Freycinet, or the otherworldly remoteness of Maria Island National Park. At Tasman national park, seals, dolphins and albatross await to greet you, backed by intimidating 300m high cliffs.
Guided by an expert Expedition Team and a guest Parks and Wildlife Ranger, you’ll gain a unique “locals experience/insider view” of the area, as you embark on short hikes including the famed South Coast Track at Cockle Bay and the rugged Fluted Cape of Bruny Island.
If conditions allow, our guests will spend two days exploring the untouched Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area at Port Davey and Bathurst Harbour. Normally only accessible by seven-day hike or light aircraft.
At mealtimes, come back to the comfort of your ship to enjoy an outstanding menu of Tasmanian produce and local specialties. This is complemented by a specially curated wine list featuring a selection of Tasmania's finest cool-climate varietals.
