Something’s in the water on the Sunshine Coast. And it tastes like malt, barley and hops. Plus a bit of local spice.

With over 20 independent breweries calling this beachy paradise home, the Sunshine Coast has quietly become Australia's craft beer capital. From crisp schooners by the beach to hazy IPAs in the rolling hinterland, these Sunshine Coast breweries are rewriting the rules of Aussie beer culture.

Ready to hop between headlands and hinterland? Here's your guide to the region's most brag-worthy brews.

Noosa breweries

Boiling Pot Brewing Co.

Named after that iconic Noosa headland with views stretching to infinity, Boiling Pot brings the same jaw-dropping impact to their beers. Local legend John Scott Madill crafts golden ales, guava sours and 'Hastings' Lager right behind the taproom – beer doesn't get fresher than this.

Watch brewers work their magic while devouring traditional Roman-style pizza, then hit the turfed courtyard where Queensland sunshine meets craft beer perfection.

Where: 130A Eumundi Noosa Road, Noosaville

Land & Sea

Noosa’s first craft brewery fits like a glove in the coastal village’s aesthetic.

Their crisp Japanese rice lager has locals hooked, while juicy NEIPAs and the all-Australian First Point Pale Ale showcase serious brewing chops. Seasonal alco-seltzers? Pure genius for Noosa's endless summer.

Take the 90-minute behind-the-scenes tour, then fuel up on nachos, wings and seriously good burgers.

Where: 19 Venture Dr, Noosaville

Good to know: Land & Sea shares its space with Noosa Heads Distillery – save room for their signature dry gin.

Copperhead Restaurant and Brewery

Copperhead Restaurant Brewery, Cooroy, Sunshine Coast

You’d be forgiven for mistaking this Noosa Hinterland brewery for a restaurant. With its custom built industrial fit out, Copperhead Restaurant and Brewery considers itself part of the new wave of Brew Pubs – a brewery with a real focus on quality food and beer.

The set-up is designed for everything to be consumed on-premises. This means you won’t find their beers at the local bottle-o – but what you get instead? 100% pure, unfiltered brews without agents or preservatives.

Seven sessionable regulars flow alongside seven experimental batches that change with the seasons. This isn’t your average pub grub either: think saffron-spiced prawn and spanner crab cannelloni, stout-braised lamb shoulder and Chinese red fried duck. With suggested beer pairings, naturally.

Where: 52 Kauri St, Cooroy

Eumundi Brewery

Eumundi Brewery is housed inside the Imperial Hotel, a majestic Queenslander that’s been welcoming beer lovers since 1911. The colourful creative murals, sweeping verandahs and legendary beer garden create the perfect backdrop for quality brews crafted for Queensland's climate.

Soak up acoustic sets in the garden all weekend, catch touring bands on stage in The Bunker, and feast on everything from pub classics to contemporary dishes.

Noosa Hinterland Brewing Co

Escape the rush and sink into hinterland bliss at this family-owned Sunshine Coast craft beer emporium. Eight rotating taps showcase everything from core range favourites to seasonal drops and limited collabs – you'll need to move fast to catch the special releases.

The heritage-listed building adds serious character (it once housed Alfredson's joinery and pre-cut house workshop), while the brew-kit and fermenters on display let you watch the magic happen. Ploughman's platters, cheese boards and bar nibbles will fuel you while soaking up those dreamy country views.

The ultimate hero story. Matt and Christen launched from their Moffat Beach shed in 2015, creating Your Mates Pale Ale (aka Larry, because beer should make you happy as Larry). Now they're one of the most recognisable Sunshine Coast breweries.

Ginger beer, IPAs, lagers, dark beer and low carb options – all made for drinking with mates in the sunshine. Pure Queensland magic in every sip.

Glass House Brewery

The name embodies the space it’s in: a contemporary, high-ceiling semi-industrial warehouse with glass louvres that let in plenty of light. Glass House believes craft beer brings people together, viewing their home in the heart of the Sunshine Coast as a celebration of the local community.

The beer flows from this on-site brewery – choose from a tropical pale, west coast IPA, raspberry sour or limited edition brew or go for a tasting paddle if you’re undecided. Pair it with the locally sourced menu boasting dishes like beef spezzatino and porcini risotto, as well as a wine list and cocktail menu.
