Bakers Creek is a quaint town located just seven kilometres south of Mackay. The creek itself is renowned for offering some of Mackay's finest fishing experiences. However, anglers should remain vigilant, as the waters are also home to wild crocodiles.

The surrounding area thrives on industries such as sugar cane farming and fruit and vegetable cultivation. A prominent local feature is a large abattoir, celebrated for producing some of Queensland’s best T-bone steaks.

A notable landmark is the Bakers Creek Memorial, easily spotted from the Bruce Highway. Featuring an airplane propeller and a bronze replica of a B-17C Flying Fortress, it honour's the 40 United States Air Force members who tragically lost their lives in a 1943 air disaster—the worst aviation tragedy in Australia’s history.

Visitors can enjoy a hearty meal at the local tavern or take a relaxing break at Bakers Creek Park, located on Ivers Street.
