One wayFamous for the Nebo Campdraft (annually in September), Nebo offers an authentic Outback experience and spectacular rural countryside rich with natural resources. Take some time for the Township Heritage Tour and a walk along the Nebo Creek Cultural Boardwalk.
Take an optional side detour to historic Mount Britton, which is famous for its rare geological formations and is the site of a pioneer gold mining town from the 1800s.
Mount Britton is a great spot to camp overnight or take a wilderness hike and try fossicking.

One wayOn your way to the coastal town of Sarina, via Eton, visit the General Gordon Hotel on Homebush Road. Established in 1886 and standing proudly among the cane fields, this hotel offers great meals and cold drinks.
Continuing on to the township of Sarina, set in the serene foothills of Connors Range, the town offers a beautiful array of beaches with 90km of frontage to the Coral Sea.
The Heritage and Mining Trail ends at Hay Point Lookout, north of the Sarina township. This is the best vantage point from which to view the operations of one of the largest coal export facilities in the world, at Hay Point and the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminals.
Turn off just before the coal terminal to visit the viewing point that overlooks the bustling worksite below. It is especially spectacular at night as turns into a sea of lights.

One waySouth of Clermont, seven kilometres along the Rubyvale Road is Copperfield, where a 10 metre wall of solid copper ore was discovered in 1862. It was the start of Queensland's first copper mine. All that remains of the once thriving community is a single smelter chimney stack and the general store, now the local museum which bares the same merchandise on its shelves as the day the store closed.

Other attractions include Hood's Lagoon, Clermont Museum and Pioneer Park.
Formed in the Bowen Basin approximately 300 million years ago, Central Queensland plays a pivotal role in Queensland's coal production.
Travel along Peak Downs Highway for panoramic views of The Peak Range, a chain of picturesque mountains between Clermont and Moranbah. Sharp peaks are visible across the flat central highland plains.

One wayMoranbah, established 35 years ago, was created for miners and their families. The large red dragline bucket at the town's entrance is a tribute to the coal mining industry's contribution to the area.
Town facilities include an aquatic centre, large shopping centre, specialty stores and many accommodation and dining options. The Musical Railway and Musical Table and Chairs at the Town Square, are a public art project where visitors can play and make music.
The Peak Downs Coal Mine is situated 40 kilometres from Moranbah. It produces eight million tonnes of raw coal per year which is mined, crushed, washed and cleaned to produce five million tonnes of coking coal, exported to fifteen international destinations. The Peak Downs Mine Tour operates on the second Wednesday of every month.
