Fern Tree Pool and Giant's Chair Circuit

Monto, North Burnett Area

Sandstone monoliths and weathered caves of vivid yellow and red ochres call Cania Gorge National Park home and you can experience a gamut of these on the Fern Tree Pool and Giant's Chair Circuit.
This 5.2 kilometre round trip kicks off just near the picnic area and is just one of many different bushwalks in the gorge which is the perfect place to base yourself to experience authentic Australian bush flora and fauna and experience Queensland's Sandstone Wilderness.

Unexpected lush greenery will meet you at the Fern Tree Pool, a unique site nestled amongst dry sandstone cliffs, beds and rocky outcrops. After criss-crossing the dry bed of "Doctors Gully" Fern tree pool is a permanent pool of water shrouded by lush ferns.

Once you have taken the sights, smells and sounds in of the hidden oasis, head another 2.2 kilometres up to Giant's Chair Lookout, which takes in breathtaking views.

It only takes three hours and some good H2O to make the most of nature's wild thrills, hills and adventures on this bushwalk of a gargantuan nature.

You can hang up your boots after a good days hiking, relax and then do it all again on another trail tomorrow.
