Proserpine

Proserpine, Whitsunday Area
Proserpine was named by the explorer George Dalrymple, after Persephone the Greek goddess of fertility, recognising the fertile qualities in the region. Since the late 1800s, cattle grazing and sugar cane have been the economic mainstays here.

Hook Island

No visit to the Whitsundays is complete without seeing a few islands and Hook Island offers spectacular natural surroundings and excellent snorkelling and diving sites. The second largest island in the Cumberland group, it is 58 square kilometres in size and includes sheltered, picturesque bays, deep fjord-like inlets, ideal sailing and kayaking conditions, multiple moorings and safe anchorages, pristine fringing reefs, secluded beach campsites and the opportunity to see abundant wildlife including sea eagles, kites and ospreys, turtles, reef fish, dolphins, manta rays and humpback whales frolicking in Whitsunday Passage (between June to September).

Conway National Park

Conway National Park is a peaceful coastal park with rainforest-clad hills, secluded beaches and panoramic outlooks over the scenic Whitsunday area. This park includes the rainforest-clad Conway Peninsula and protects the largest area of lowland tropical rainforest in Queensland outside Tropical North Queensland.

Horseshoe Bay - Bowen

Horseshoe Bay is Bowen's most iconic beach and a favourite for locals and visitors alike, regularly topping best beaches lists. The beach is framed by two granite outcrops which provide a haven for a wonderful range of fish and coral just a short swim from the beach.

Hardy Reef

Hardy Reef, on the Great Barrier Reef off Airlie Beach, is home to the Reefworld Pontoon. There is spectacular fish life with Trevally, Coral Trout, Snapper and a host of smaller marine life as well as Giant Maori Wrasse and a two metre long Giant Queensland Groper that usually congregate for a free feed.

Cedar Creek Falls

You will find Cedar Creek Falls about half way between Airlie Beach and Proserpine on Saltwater Creek Road. Set in a natural rock amphitheatre, you will enjoy spectacular waterfalls in the wet season and abundant flora and fauna including majestic white cedar trees, Alexandra Palms, wild orchids, colourful butterflies and many beautiful birds.

Bowen Creek Fishing

Bowen has many creek systems, which hold healthy numbers of Mangrove-jack, Bream, Whiting and Barramundi (closed season November to February). South of Bowen, you’ll find Adelaide and Duck Creeks, which can be accessed by sea around the top of the tide only, via beach ramps.

Gloucester Island

Gloucester Island is situated at the northern end of the Whitsundays islands group,and is easily accessible by boat from Dingo Beach and Hydeaway Bay. Dingo Beach and Hydeaway bay are approximately 45 minutes drive from Airlie Beach, and a trailer boat is easily towed along roads of good quality, culminating in a three to four kilometre stretch of dirt road at Cape Gloucester.

Cannonvale

Cannonvale, Whitsunday Area
Just three minutes to the west of the tourist hot spot of Airlie Beach you’ll find its quieter, less known, but just as beautiful cousin Cannonvale. A perfect place to base the family, Cannonvale is conveniently located close to all the sights and sounds the Whitsundays has to offer.
