Molle Island National Park camping

South Molle Island, Whitsunday Area

Indicative Rate * AU$6.35 to AU$25.40

White sandy beaches, pockets of rainforest and pale blue waters make these picturesque inshore islands a wildlife refuge and a scenic retreat for nature lovers.

Just off the coast at Airlie Beach, the islands and surrounding waters are protected in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Marvel at the islands' eucalypt forest-cloaked slopes, gullies of lush rainforest, and dramatic grasslands on the exposed slopes.

The Ngaro Aboriginal people lived on and visited these islands for thousands of years. They used fire to flush out game and maintain the natural grasslands. Look for the remains of the stone quarry for making tools and weapons on South Molle Island.

Campers can choose from large group sites to secluded 'deserted' islands, all in close proximity to the extensive walking of South Molle and Long islands. South Molle also has a network of mountain biking trails for the truly adventurous visitor.
