Surrounded by National Park and Reserve, Hillside is a luxurious Retreat away from the stresses of life, but within easy access of both the Mountain attractions and the Gold Coast.

Gumnut Cottage, private, nestled amongst the gum trees, offers self-contained accommodation with its own balcony where you can wake up to Nature's Song, and over a glass of wine in the evening, soak up the magic of twinkling lights. Small dogs and child friendly.

The Lyrebird Suite, self-contained, presented with a lovely breakfast hamper, or the Rose Room Suite with your breakfast cooked for you, offer you the warm friendly atmosphere of Hillside.

For those warm sunny days, splash in a tropical pool/spa to cool off, whilst in the winter months, curl up in front of your own private log fire and relax over a good book. At night enjoy the twinkling lights, the moon and stars, perhaps see a possum, as you relax in the quiet private atmosphere of Hillside Country Retreat.

Our Rooms

Gumnut Cottage is very private, away from the house with fabulous views across the Hinterland to the Pacific Ocean and Gold Coast, set amongst the dappled shade of the surrounding trees with only birdsong for company. Very spacious with two bedrooms and a comfortable lounge, wood combustion heater, a full kitchen including a washing machine and dining area.

The private deck has its own barbecue, and is an excellent place to put your feet up at the end of the day, sit back with a glass of wine, while the lights of the Gold Coast start illuminating the coastline.

Includes complimentary tea/coffee/sugar/milk, Port and chocolates upon arrival. Self-catering in regards to food. A breakfast Hamper can be provided for an extra charge.

Includes a continental breakfast basket. Suite comprises queen bedroom which has a television with large separate bathroom, small sitting room/kitchenette. Heating and electric blankets for winter, or cool off in the guest swimming pool during summer.

Relax on the front balcony and soak up the beautiful view across the Hinterland to the Pacific Ocean and Gold Coast.

The Rose Room and Lyrebird Suites can be converted into a Double Self-contained bed and breakfast by opening an interconnecting door enabling each couple complete bedroom/bathroom privacy.

A barbecue is available for guests. Complimentary tea, coffee, Port and chocolates upon arrival.

Lyrebird Suite is beautifully furnished comprising a queen bedroom with a lovely ensuite,kitchen and dining area. With a separate entrance it is a real home away from home with every comfort including a log fire, television, surround sound system, DVD, and lovely views across the forests of the mountain. Curl up in front of the cosy fire in winter, or cool off in our swimming pool during summer. Guest barbecue available.

Mount Larcom Climb

The prominent and distinctive peak of Mount Larcom is visible to the north-west from most points in Gladstone, with its summit is 632 metres above sea level. Matthew Flinders noted it when he explored Port Curtis, naming it after Captain Larcom under whom he had served.
