Start your outback adventure at Myella Farm Stay with horse riding, motorbike lessons, cow milking, whip cracking, lasso, feed cows, horses and chickens. See the wild kangaroos, go on a bush walk or just take in the breathtaking country scenery.

Our Tours

Horse Riding

Have a go at Horse Riding in the outback at a real working cattle property. They begin feeding and saddling the horses at about 8.30am. Guests are welcome to help gather and feed the horses. They provide helmets, boots and long clothes.

There is training which is offered in an unusual way and it really helps you communicate with your horse and enjoy your ride. Smile as you ride over the 2600 acre farm and enjoy the bush scenery. Learn about the farm, plants, the animals and of course horses and riding.

Enjoy spectacular horseback rides across Myella farm through wide open fields; see kangaroos and cattle up close. This is not a head to tail pony trek, however there is also a lot of walking; at random times they move cattle. Over the years they have hosted many types of riders with various levels of experience; the beginners love it and even the highly trained riders seem to enjoy riding their "Myella Style".

The ride finishes approximately 11.45am to 12.15pm. You are invited to groom your horse and set it free into it's 50 acre paddock. There is a 100 kilogram weight limit and minimum age is six years.

Day Trip

One of the best ways to spend a day in Queensland, join the Myella farm for an action packed day of adventure horse riding and motorbikes or 4WD tour, animal feeding, cow milking. Get off the beach and experience the outback with a genuine farming family.

All inclusive of all farm activities and meals. Self drive or bus transfer by arrangement (additional cost applies).

Pick up 6.30am from Rockhampton; Use the campfire to cook toast and cup of tea campfire breakfast also includes fruit, cereal and juice. Ride a horse through the wide open fields. Get up close to cattle and kangaroos. Home in time for a quick swim then lunch served buffet style, lots of salads and cold meats and soup or a pasta dish. In the afternoon ride around on the 100cc AG motorbikes. Hand milk a cow and sample fresh milk! Arrive back in Rockhampton 6.30pm.

Drive to Myella and arrive at 4pm, arrive just in time to hand milk the cow. Light the campfire. Enjoy a home cooked dinner in the company of the Myella locals; try our complementary homemade beer and relax by your campfire. Take a moment to look at the night sky and the stars. Sleep peacefully in your simple, clean and quiet room! Take an early morning walk to see wild kangaroos and enjoy the sunrise. Cook fresh eggs for Breakfast and enjoy toast, cereal, fruit and juice. Collect eggs and feed chickens, help sort the milking cows, gather, feed and groom the horses. Ride your horse through the wide open fields, ride very close to cattle and kangaroos. Arrive at the homestead in time for a quick swim then a fresh buffet style salad lunch. Sign up for a motorbike training or 4WD farm tour or lasso and whip-cracking lessons. Ride a motorbike or walk to the sunset spot. Stay another night with a lovely home cooked dinner and depart after breakfast.

China Wall Dive Site

Located on the exposed eastern side of Brisbane’s Moreton Island, China Wall is an unusual dive site for the area as the reef is dominated by kelp rather than coral. Waving beds of brown kelp are more common in southern Australia and these ones look very out of place with tropical fish swimming around them.

Curtin Artificial Reef Dive Site

Curtin Artificial Reef is a popular dive site in Moreton Bay and is easily accessible from Brisbane. Since 1968, the Underwater Research Group of Queensland has been sinking large vessels, cars, tires and pontoons at this site to create a haven for the local tropical fish, gropers, trevally, abundant wobbegongs, rays and other schooling fish.

Smith Rock Dive Site

Smith Rock is one of the most notorious reefs off Brisbane, as this jagged rocky outcrop has claimed three ships over the years. Located off the eastern side of Moreton Island, Smith Rock is also a wonderful dive site, but is often overlooked as it is a tricky site to anchor on.

Tangalooma Dolphin Feeding

Moreton Bay is home to approximately 600 bottlenose dolphins and each evening as the sun begins to set across the water, a small pod makes their way to the shores of Tangalooma Island Resort. Since 1992, resort guests have had the opportunity to hand feed the dolphins as part of the Tangalooma wild dolphin feeding program.
