What an amazing experience, being there for the first moments of the life of a member of an endangered species... this is what is offered to you at Mon Repos Turtle Rookery! Visit early in the season (November - mid January) and see the adult turtles digging their nests and laying their eggs, come along later on and see the baby turtles hatching (mid January to mid March)!

All you have to do is book with Bundaberg Coaches onto the Turtle Express and it's all taken care of for you - your transport and your turtle encounter.

Book early to avoid disappointment - Turtle Season starts from November and runs until March!

Our Tours

On the outskirts of Bundaberg is Mon Repos, the largest Loggerhead turtle rookery in the South Pacific.

From November to March annually, Mon Repos plays host to Loggerhead, Flatback and Green Sea Turtles. What an amazing sight it is to see these huge creatures making their way up the beach to find a safe spot to dig a nest and lay their eggs! Later in the season, you can see tiny hatchlings emerge from the sand and scurry back to the sea.

Your Turtle Express ticket includes pick-up from your accommodation, transport out to Mon Repos, the turtle encounter and return to your accommodation!

Local tours include pick up and drop off from Bundaberg or Bargara as well as entry to attractions as specified on the brochure. The current offerings are as follows:

The quiet hamlet of Helidon lies in the picturesque Lockyer Valley, approximately one hour west of Brisbane and just 15 minutes east of Toowoomba. Sandstone from this area has been used in many of Queensland's beautiful historic buildings.

Goombungee

Take a quiet side-track from the Warrego highway or New England Highway to find Goombungee, whose streets are lined with jacarandas and silky oaks - providing a spectacular display in late spring. Nobby

Nobby is an historic little town in the Darling Downs, located halfway between Toowoomba and Warwick. Nobby is home to Rudd's Pub, dedicated to author Steele Rudd, who found inspiration among his drinking partners for his stories in On Our Selection and is a great place to stop for a meal with the pub walls adorned with an extensive display of historic memorabilia and photographs of the area's pioneering past.

Hodgson Vale

Hodgson Vale is a rural community 12 kilometres south of Toowoomba. Popular with mountain bikers and road cyclists there are a mix of bike trails and road cycling available in the area. Make sure you pay a visit to Lions Park in Hodgson Vale, a large park located on the New England Highway.
