GSL Aviation offer a range of scenic flights, tours and air charter over the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsundays, with air charter also extending anywhere along the Cape York Peninsula and Gulf of Carpentaria. GSL Aviation operate a fleet of high wing aircraft with guaranteed window seats and excellent visibility to ensure you get the best view. Their flights depart daily from both Whitsunday Airport in Airlie Beach and Cairns International Airport in Cairns. GSL Aviation also offer a courtesy bus for all flights.

Our Tours

Reef and Island Scenic Flight

The Reef and Island is GSL Aviation's signature scenic flight in Airlie Beach. The 60 minute flight includes all of the best sites the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef have to offer.

Taking off from Whitsunday Airport, your tour takes you over most of the 74 islands in the Whitsundays. You'll see the island resorts dotted around the islands as you head toward Whitehaven Beach and the reknowned Hill Inlet. Enjoy two passes of Australia's best beach and then head out to the Great Barrier Reef.

Included in your tour is the famous Heart Reef, nestled amongst the bright colours and patterns of Hardy Reef. On board, everyone enjoys a window seat, a pilot commentary and superb views from their fleet of high wing aircraft.

Reef and Port Douglas

See it all! GSL Aviation's one hour flight includes a bird’s eye view of Green Island, the Great Barrier Reef and North Queensland coastline. The Great Barrier Reef is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and the amazing contrast of colours is something that’s best experienced from the air.

After becoming airborne you’ll fly to Green Island, and overhead the Great Barrier Reef. As you head back to the mainland, you'll fly overhead the tourist town of Port Douglas, and along the renowned North Queensland coastline back towards Cairns. Sights include Cairns, Green Island, Arlington Reef, Upolu Reef, Batt Reef, Tongue Reef, Port Douglas, and Palm Cove.

Reef Hopper

Get a taste of the Great Barrier Reef with GSL Aviation's 40 minute scenic flight. Departing Cairns Airport this tour includes Green Island and the Great Barrier Reef. After exploring the Reef you’ll head back toward the mainland, with views of the North Queensland coastline. Cairns Fly and Cruise

Experience the best of both worlds with their Fly and Cruise package. GSL Aviation have partnered with Big Cat Green Island to offer an amazing full-day experience. Start your day with a birds-eye view of Cairns, Green Island and the Great Barrier Reef. Soar overhead with GSL Aviation aboard a high-wing aircraft with guaranteed window seats. The 40 minute ‘Reef Hopper’ flight departs Cairns Airport and gives you an appreciation of the region that you can only get from the air.

Following the flight and your complimentary bus transfer, you’ll find yourself at the Cairns Reef Terminal ready to depart on a full day adventure cruise to Green Island with Big Cat on board ‘Reef Rocket’. Your full day cruise includes everything you need for the day, with a range of extras and activities available for no extra charge. Included in your cruise is a buffet lunch, and glass bottom boat coral viewing tour or snorkel equipment hire. On top of your tour inclusions are other activities on Green Island such as self-guided walks and fish feeding.

After your entertaining afternoon, cruise back to the Cairns Reef Terminal where your tour concludes.

Island Explorer

Experience the best of both worlds with their Fly and Cruise packages. Begin your day with a courtesy bus transfer from your hotel to their terminal building at Whitsunday Airport. Enjoy the most spectacular view in the Whitsundays aboard a one hour ‘Reef and Island’ scenic flight.

The flight includes all the sights of the Whitsunday Islands including Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet. Extending beyond the Whitsunday Islands your flight takes you over the Great Barrier Reef, including the famous ‘Heart Reef’. All passengers enjoy their own window seat, and the aircraft are high-wing to allow for best possible viewing. After experiencing the amazing Whitsundays from the air, the day continues with a transfer to Abell Point Marina and a full day adventure with Ocean Rafting. Charlie's Hill

Constructed by the RAAF in 1943, the No 211 Radar Station on Charlie’s Hill was one of twenty radar installations along the North Queensland coastline. These operated to give an early warning of approaching enemy aircraft during World War II.

The Old Brandon Church is the place to go if you love historic buildings. Formerly Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, the building is listed on the Registers of both the National Estate and the National Trust of Queensland.
