Full Itinerary

After leaving the Border Track 5.4 kilometres from Binna Burra, this circuit winds through rainforest to the summit of Mount Hobwee (1163 metres). Much of the forest near the summit was disturbed by a severe storm in 1983.

The Nothofagus forest and associated communities found here and Mount Merino provide strong evidence of the Gondwana connection. The 'beech orange', a species of fungus, occurs only on Nothofagus species found in Australia and South America.

The circuit rejoins the Border Track for the return to the Binna Burra car park.

Please see the Queensland National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing web site for detailed maps and the latest park information, including opening hours and safety messages. When you are in the park, make sure you refer to signs at the start of the track for more information.
