  • グレートバリアリーフは全長2300km以上あります。それはケアンズなどを包含する州の北端トロピカルノースクイーンズランド地方から南は州本土中央より少し下のバンダ―バーグの沖合まで続いています。
  • グレートバリアリーフへのアクセスは意外と簡単!東海岸に平行して存在するグレートバリアリーフへはポートダグラス、ケアンズ、タウンズビル、エアリービーチ、タウン・オブ・1770、バンダ―バーグなど玄関口も豊富にあります。
  • グレートバリアリーフの面積は35万平方キロメートルあります。その大きさはどれくらいかと言うと宇宙空間から地球を観た時に唯一肉眼で確認出来る地球上生命体と言えばその広大さが分かると思います。

Lady Elliot Island

Where else in the Great Barrier Reef can you walk less than 100 metres out of your door and slip on a snorkel, mask and flippers and be immersed in one of the seven wonders of the natural world? Lady Elliot Island is the Southernmost island on the Great Barrier Reef and is home to nesting turtles, manta rays, migrating whales, resident and visiting bird populations among the natural and abundant reef life.

The Blowhole

Lady Elliot Island has many wonderful dive sites, but the most dramatic dive site off this coral cay would have to be The Blowhole. Located off the eastern side of the island, this spectacular L-shaped cave opens on the reef top and exits on the reef wall.

Hiros Cave and The Tubes

The eastern side of Lady Elliot Island is not always dived as it is more exposed to the weather, but this part of the island has some lovely dive sites. A feature of this part of the fringing reef is a wall that drops from 14 metres to 22 metres.

Lighthouse Bommies Dive Site

Just off the western side of Lady Elliot Island is a group of small coral outcrops known as Lighthouse Bommies. Descend down the mooring line and drift onto the bommies to discover a vast array of marine life - batfish, stingrays, white-spotted shovelnose rays, green and loggerhead turtles, sea snakes, moray eels, coral trout, reef sharks, trevally, barracuda, and manta rays waiting to be groomed by cleaner wrasse.

Mon Repos

Home of the nesting and hatching turtles six months of the year this 6km stretch of beach is a secluded cove of beautiful coastline. Closed off to the public at night during turtle season, November-March, you can get up close and personal with these ancient mariners on a Mon Repos Turtle Encounter, a must for any visitor.

Severance Shipwreck Dive Site

Quite a few ships have come to grief on the fringing reef around Lady Elliot Island, but only one of these can be dived, that is the Severance. This fully intact yacht sank in 1998 and still has much of its rigging in place that is now covered in glorious soft corals.

Spiders Ledge

Lady Elliot Island, Bundaberg Area
Spiders Ledge is a good place to see sharks at Lady Elliot Island. The reef at this site slopes from 8 metres to 25 metres and is cut by a series of gutters and ledges. Pretty corals and abundant reef fish are found at the site, as are turtles and schools of pelagic fish.

Lady Musgrave Island on the Great Barrier Reef is accessible from either Bundaberg or the Town of 1770. This 44 acre coral cay sits in a lagoon of approximately 3,000 acres with 14 world class dive sites:

Moore Park Beach

Moore Park Beach is only a 15 minute drive from Bundaberg Central Business District. Offering 20 kilometres of unspoilt beaches; the northern end is used for Four Wheel Driving and the southern end is a popular swimming area.
