The Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic promises three days of non-stop action! Staged at picturesque Lake Moondarra, 15 kilometres north of Mount Isa the annual Moondarra Classic offers a program jam packed with fishing, fun and excitement.

Hosted by Mount Isa Fish Stocking Group the Classic raises funds for re-stocking local impoundments with native fish species.

A fishing, outdoor and camping enthusiasts dream, the Fishing Classic boasts over 20 prize categories not only on water but land and an enormous line up of entertainment on the land including Fireworks, DIY Dragon Boat Regatta, Beach Volleyball, yabby races, live bands, trade exhibits, camping, food, drink and bar facilities and more.

Adult $40 - $40 All nominated competitors are eligible for complimentary camping

Aarhus Dive Site

North of Moreton Island lies the Aarhus, a 50 metre iron barque. The three-mast sail ship sank in 1894 after a 122-day sail from New York, and is considered one of Australia’s first major oil spills. The Aarhus carried a cargo of kerosene, glassware, wire bails and alarm clocks, with some of those timber artifacts under the sand still preserved by the kerosene they were drenched in.

Hole In The Wall

Fortunately there is a lot more to see than a Hole In The Wall at this dive site at Heron Island. Located north of the harbour, this dive site has coral walls, gutters, caves and ledges to explore in depths to 20 metres.
