Kuranda Roots Festival

Kuranda, Mareeba Area

23 – 24 June 2018 -

Kuranda, known as Ngunbay (place of the platypus in the local Djabugay language), is a small vibrant town of creative souls nestled in the World Heritage listed rainforest of Far North Queensland.

In it's 14th year, Kuranda Roots Festival has been a celebration of music, creative culture, one love and unity - bringing together people of all generations and walks of life. This is a family friendly two day event, featuring an exciting array of bands, DJ's, dancers, workshops and a market village.

The location, 'The Billabong', is three kilometres from Kuranda village. A picturesque site with a billabong surrounded by campsites and stages set within lush parkland.

Kuranda's roots run very deep. It is the home of the Djabugay and Bulway Peoples over countless millennia. It's an honour to host Kuranda Roots Festival on their sacred land and for them to share their culture, their dance and their music.
