The outback has always been renowned for its warm hospitality and the Kinnon and Co self-contained accommodation continues that tradition. On adjoining landscaped sites set back from the main Longreach-Ilfracombe road, and a few minutes walk from the Stockman's Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Museum, you can choose from the unique Homestead Stables and Pioneer Slab Huts with deluxe heritage-inspired interiors or the comfortable Outback Lodges that offer great value for families or groups of friends.

All accommodation is self-contained with bathrooms, kitchenettes, air conditioning and television/DVD. The Pioneer Slab Huts and Homestead Stables share a quirky outdoor bath terrace and there is a swimming pool in the Outback Lodges area. The town of Longreach is an easy cycle or a few minutes' drive away. They can pick you up from the railway station, bus depot or airport. Shared facilities include pool, covered communal area, barbecues, laundry, luggage storage area and bike hire.

All bedding and towels are supplied and the accommodation is serviced on a weekly basis free of charge. If you need service within a shorter time-frame, they can arrange it for a small additional fee.

Our Rooms

Pioneer Slab Hut

Kinnon and Co's Pioneer Slab Huts have been inspired by early-settler dwellings and no expense has been spared in using traditional building methods and crafts to create a unique experience for guests. With their clever design, these 4-star slab huts transport you to another era while making sure you don't miss out on contemporary comforts.

Relax on your own rustic verandah or enjoy their outback 'bath terrace' where you can soak (in bathers!) after a dusty day or kick back under the stars. With a queen bed, these rooms are suitable for couples or singles only.

Facilities: ensuite bathroom, kitchenette with sink and microwave, television/DVD, table, air conditioning, towels and linen supplied - parking area adjoining the huts.

Homestead Stables

Their newest addition is inspired by the stables and stable-boys' sleeping quarters at a traditional homestead. Rough hand-sawn doors, local timber, ripple iron and stone create an authentic ambience. Of course the old time stable boys wouldn't have recognised the televisionV/DVD, microwave, air-conditioning and deluxe bathroom!

Comfort Queen / Comfort Twin Outback Lodge

These great value Kinnon and Co Outback Accommodation Comfort Queen lodges have a queen bed in the main bedroom and triple bunks in the living area. It is possible to arrange for two king singles instead of the queen and they have one unit with disability access - please ask for a Comfort Twin Lodge when you book. There's a living area with kitchenette, day bed/sofa television/DVD and a bathroom. The lodges are fully self contained, air-conditioned and all linen is supplied. The balcony has outdoor chairs and parking is at your door. Capacity up to five people.

Premium Outback Lodge

Kinnon and Co Outback Accommodation's two bedroom Premium Lodges, situated in a quiet location have generous space for a family or friends to share - a main bedroom with queen bed and a second bedroom with two king singles, plus living area with kitchenette, cooking facilities, dining table, sofa, television/DVD and a bathroom. The lodges are fully self contained, air-conditioned and all linen is supplied. The balcony has outdoor chairs and parking is at your door. Capacity of four people.

Superior Outback Lodge

The Superior Lodge at Kinnon and Co Outback Accommodation has two bedrooms - a main with queen bed and the second with two king singles and two trundle beds. A pull-out sofa in the lounge room gives additional sleeping space. There's a spacious living area, kitchen/dining with cooking facilities, dining table, sofa, television/DVD and a bathroom.

The lodges are fully self contained, air-conditioned and all linen is supplied. The balcony has an outdoor dining area and parking is at your door. Capacity for up to eight people.

Nursery Reef

Nursery Reef is a shallow rocky reef off Rainbow Beach that is always full of surprises. The least dived site in the area, due to its shallow depth and exposed location, Nursery Reef is only 5 metres to 7 metres deep.

Tin Can Bay

Secluded in the midst of picturesque Tin Can Inlet, experience a tranquil getaway to this area known for its eco-tourism surroundings. Tin Can Bay is a perfect place to unwind and relax. Wolf Rock Dive Site

Wolf Rock, located off the coast of Rainbow Beach near Gympie, is an action packed dive site with few equals. A dive for experienced divers only, due to the depth and strong currents, Wolf Rock comprises of five interconnecting pinnacles that rising from 35 metres.

Bird Watching - Tin Can Bay

The Cooloola Coast is part of the Great Sandy Strait, which is an internationally important wetland. It is an area of tidal swamps and intertidal sand and mud flats. The vegetation includes beds of seagrass, mangrove forests and saltmarsh wetlands.

Carlo Sand Blow

Carlo Sand Blow is a unique "moonscape" sand mass covers over 15 hectares and overlooks the towering coloured sand and the coastline from Double Island Point to Inskip Peninsula and the southern tip of Fraser Island.

Round Bommie

Rainbow Beach, Gympie Area
Round Bommie is a large granite monolith divers can explore off Rainbow Beach. This huge slab of rock rises out of the sand at 15 metres and reaches within 6 metres of the surface. It takes about 30 minutes to swim around Round Bommie, but with many ledges and holes to investigate divers are lucky to complete a circuit in an hour.
