Women's Masters State Championships

Townsville will see an influx of visitors during the four-day affair, with hundreds of athletes and their supporters set to converge on the town from around the state.

Masters hockey is one of the fastest growing forms of hockey in Australia and is one of Hockey Queensland's biggest tournaments.

Players aged 35 and over compete in teams from their local area, with Queensland state teams selected at the end of the Championships in age groups 35+ to 65+.

Just one hour's drive south of Townsville is the Burdekin Shire - the sugar capital of Australia, fishing mecca, bird watching paradise and traditional homeland of the Gudjuda Aboriginal people.
