The Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo is where the romance of the Australian Outback meets the grit of a mining town, east meets west and man meets beast.

It's non-stop rodeo action - bull riding, saddle bronc, bareback bronc, rope and tie, steer wresting, team roping, barrel racing and breakaway roping.

Immerse yourself with unearthed and behind the scenes tours. Throw in Rodeo Rock Concerts, "The Isa Street Party", Mardi Gras, Queen Quest, Mailman Express Horse Race, Best Dressed Business competition, Bush Poets Breakfast, Markets and our 60th Rodeo into the mix and you've got one big party!

Stubby Bend

On the banks of the Barcoo River away from the highway noise, Stubby Bend offers fully self-contained travellers a free site for camping. A variety of birds visit the area throughout the day, you can watch the kangaroos grazing in the afternoons, and quite often at night friendly possums will visit your camp site.

Fairbairn Dam, Lake Maraboon

If you love fishing, you're going to love this holiday destination. Lake Maraboon is stocked with eight different kinds of fish including barramundi, making it a popular spot for anglers. You'll also find a healthy population of red claw crayfish in the area.

Mount Moffatt, Carnarvon National Park

Rolleston

Rolleston is in the southeast of Queensland's Central Highlands and is the nearest town to the world renowned Carnarvon Gorge and Carnarvon National Park. Rolleston is 70 kilometres east of Springsure and can be reached by travelling along the Great Inland Way.

Comet

Comet is located in the Central Highlands, 39 kilometres east of Emerald on the Capricorn Highway. Comet was established in association with the westward development of the railway line from Rockhampton.

Crystal clear springs add more than ten million litres of water a day to peaceful Louisa Creek and the Nogoa River as they meander beneath a backdrop of rocky sandstone crags and spires. Named by explorer Sir Thomas Mitchell in 1846, Salvator Rosa is at the western edge of the Central Queensland Sandstone Belt.

Emerald

Emerald, Central Highlands Area
How did Emerald get its name? It's thanks to a lush green hill - emerald in colour - located just north of the town called 'Emerald Downs Hill'. Established in 1879, this large country town has become the hub of the Central Highlands and gateway to one of the largest sapphire fields in the southern hemisphere.
