Visions of Earth - Southern Cross Soloists starring special guest William Barton, Didgeridoo

Noosa Heads, Noosa Area

Visions of Earth is inspired by the greatest muse of all, the earth and its natural wonders.

Indigenous culture, with its spiritual connection to land and nature, flickers in the hearts of this concert’s Australian composers, with Sculthorpe’s shimmering strings and his protégé Barton conjuring mystical stories of our unique island.

This evocative program explores these primal notions, with stunning music performed by Southern Cross Soloists alongside the master of the didgeridoo, William Barton.

William Barton (performer/composer) has been playing didgeridoo for over 20 years and first learnt the instrument in Mount Isa in far northwestern Queensland. He has been touring internationally since he was 15 years old, with his first performance with a professional orchestra as soloist at 17. In 2012, he won an ARIA award for best classical album with Kalkadungu.

Southern Cross Soloists are a chamber ensemble comprising of leading Australian musicians, educators and entrepreneurs who in the past two decades have established an outstanding reputation for musical excellence.
