From the 4-15 April 2018, punters will be able to support their favourite athletes as they compete in a variety of sports from Athletics and Swimming to Lawn Bowls and Cycling. The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games also includes 12 action-packed days of free celebrations called Festival 2018.
Known as a surf capital amongst both professional and amateur surfers, the Gold Coast is the best stage for world class surfing events like the World Surfing Reserve, Quiksilver Pro and Roxy Pro and the Burleigh Pro. Grab a spot on the beach and watch as the world’s best carve up gnarly waves.
Beginners and professional athletes can achieve their new personal bests and put their endurance to the test at triathlons, marathons and ocean swim events across the Gold Coast. Beginners can head straight for the Gold Coast Marathon; the world’s flattest and fastest marathon and qualifying professionals can be involved in more competitive events like the Gold Coast Triathlon – Luke Harrop Memorial.
The Gold Coast hosts blockbuster sport events like the PGA Golf Championships, Supercars Gold Coast 600, Rugby League, AFL and Soccer matches and participation events including the Australian Open Lawn Bowls.
The Goldie (as local’s call it) is also a place where music, good food and good vibes are aplenty. Check out the annual Groundwater Country Music Festival or the Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival to get your hips swaying and feet tapping.
