Ewan Races

The Ewan Races honour the true spirit of country racing, by conducting its annual two-day race meeting, on the banks of Stockyard Creek, Charters Towers in North Queensland. With its on track facilities, EATC is proud to offer two days of first class, professional country racing with a prize pool of over AUD100,000, making it one of the richest country meetings on the racing calendar.

Birdsville Races

Dubbed as the Melbourne Cup of the Outback, crowds of 6,000 racegoers converge on Birdsville each year to enjoy two day of quality outback racing and entertainment. The second race meet in the Simpson Desert Racing Carnival, the 13 race program features horses from all over Australia competing for the coveted Birdsville Cup.

Taroom Cup Race Day

Enjoy an afternoon of country racing at its best and stay until late with live music. The Dawson Jockey Club at Taroom will host a five race program with the Leichhardt Hotel Cup as the feature race. Visit this historic track which is only one of four left-handed tracks in Queensland.

Thangool Races

Thangool is the home of country horse racing within the Banana region. The large course and spacious green lawns give an ambience of calm, a contrast to the cut and thrust of colour, suspense and excitement among the spectators, and the jockeys and horses as they stride down the straight towards the winner’s post.

Betoota Races

Witness the ghost town of Betoota come to life with holiday goers and Outback folk to celebrate the region’s signature event – The Betoota Races – and kicking off the Simpson Desert Racing Carnival. Firstly, don your dancing shoes on Friday night for an outback bush dance followed by backing a winner in one of the six horse race meets the next day.

Barcoo Shire Race Meeting

The Barcoo Shire Race Meeting is held at Jundah each year. The Jundah racecourse holds the only country race meeting in the Barcoo Shire, and is a fun family event, featuring trainers and their horses from the regional area.
