Mackay Airport – Domestic Airport
Located half way between Cairns and Brisbane, flying down from the north or up from the south is easy, with direct flights from Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville and Rockhampton.

There are several transportation options to get you where you need to go including:
  • Door-to-door airport transfers
  • Call a taxi - 131 008
  • Hire a rental car for your stay

Take the train
Take the train to Mackay with Queensland Rail who offer multiple services weekly from both north and south. From the more modern Tilt Train, to the more traditional Sunlander, depending on your needs, both options will get you into the Mackay Region.

Travel by coach
Bus and coach services are frequent in the Mackay Region from throughout Queensland.

Drive Mackay
Take-up one of the many drive itineraries and hire a car, 4WD or campervan from various locations across Mackay (including from Mackay Airport). From day trips to weekend stopovers or week long camping experiences, the Mackay region has an abundance of drive experiences from beachfront to bush.

Taxi
Mackay Whitsunday Taxis service the area from Sarina in the south to Airlie Beach in the north, so if you are in need of door to door service, phone 131 008.

Sail away
Just off Mackay’s coast lies the Cumberland Island Group at the southern extreme of the famous Whitsundays. Skipper yourself or hire a crewed vessel to explore the islands or snorkel and dive over some of the world’s best living the coral reefs.
