Experience Fraser Island

There’s no denying Fraser Island’s World Heritage-listed rock star status, with its tropical rainforests and endless white-sand beaches. It takes out a number of impressive gongs as it’s the world’s largest sand island and the unofficial home of the dingo. Check out these epic facts about Fraser Island here.

Beach Highways

Join the peak hour 4WD traffic along 75 Mile Beach on the eastern side of the island. Make sure you take a dip in the Champagne Rock pools and dry off on top of Indian Head for views worth Instagramming.  Continue down the east coast down to check out the Cathedrals, the Maheno Shipwreck and stop in at Happy Valley for the ultimate road trip.

Mother Nature #pimped

Get amongst the silica sand around Lake McKenzie or sweat it out on the dunes to Lake Wabby. Hideout in lush rainforest around Central Station. Sandy Cape, Waddy Point, Indian Head and Middle Rocks are the best spots to fish for your dinner.  Camp under your rainforest canopy at Central Station - one of the only places in the world where a rainforest grows in sand - or unwind at an eco resort or holiday home

Soak in the adventure

Serious hikers must tick the 8 day Great Walk (or part of it) off your bucket list which takes in part of Fraser Island’s 100 freshwater lakes, 1,000 year old rainforests and vistas. If you prefer wheels to walks, join a 4WD off-road tour to discover abundant inland freshwater lakes like Lake Mckenzie and Lake Wabby or fish for bream at Eurong Beach.
