Markets

While you’re in Queensland, keep an eye out for our local markets. These community events are your opportunity to taste local flavours, buy hand-made knick-knacks and listen to live music.

From mouth-watering street food and organic produce to vintage clothes and arts and crafts, you’ll find plenty to munch on, and souvenirs too.

Farmers Markets

Queensland is bursting with fresh produce from the Atherton Tablelands in Cairns all the way south to the food and wine region of Southern Queensland Country.

And the best way to meet the farmers, makers and growers and fill your basket with the freshest local produce you can get is to visit a local farmers market.

One of our best is The Eumundi Markets on the Sunshine Coast. It’s actually a collection of five markets in one. With stalls as far as the eye can see you can pick up knick-knacks, fresh produce, homeware and clothing or dine on international cuisines. You can even dine on everything from freshly made French crepes and German sausages to Brazilian acai bowls and Sunshine Coast cheese and cured meats. Eumundi Markets are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Brisbane City Markets is the place to pick up fresh fruit and vegetables and healthy lunch if you're wondering through the city. The markets are located on the top of Queen Street (in front of the Treasury Casino) and are buzzing with stalls and patrons every Wednesday from 8am-6pm.

Saturday and Sunday Markets

Weekend markets are the best way to spend a lazy Saturday or Sunday. Find food, art, clothing and jewellery stalls in coastal cities like Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast and Agnes Waters in Gladstone. These are some local spots to meet up and hang out with friends and family:

  • South Bank Collective Markets
  • Jan Powers New Farm Markets
  • Airlie Beach Foreshore Markets
  • Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets

Night, Community and Flea Markets

If you're in Brisbane and are looking for a different kind of night out, head to the Eat Street Markets for live music and great food from around the world. Or, if you're looking to pick up a souvenir or knick-knack, head to a community or flea market. Here are our top picks:

  • Brisbane Twilight Markets
  • Cairns Night Markets
  • Kuranda Original Rainforest Market
  • Miami Marketta on the Gold Coast
  • Mt Gravatt Marketta
