Australia Day Celebrations at Broadwater Parklands

Be part of the celebrations that unite our nation at the Gold Coast Australia Day event at Broadwater Parklands.

Spend the day soaking up the sun then head to the Broadwater Parklands from 4pm and fill up from the all-nations food truck feast.

The event will feature a bunch of local music talent including sets from The Twine, Sunset City and Cheap Fakes, and the kids are sure to enjoy the JJ Richards Adventure Zone!

This free event kicks off at 4pm and concludes at 8pm with a spectacular fireworks display, set to rival New Year’s Eve. The colourful presentation will feature new live performance components not seen before at this event! Crowds will be wowed by fly boards, jet skis and jetpacks, while the fantastic fireworks light up across the Broadwater.

Pack your picnic rug and gather your family and friends for a wonderful afternoon of food, fun and spectacular fireworks.

Parking: There will be no parking available at Broadwater Parklands on the day. However, Southport is exempt from parking charges on public holidays. Parking areas close to Broadwater Parklands include Cloyne Road, Marshall Lane, Mal Burke Car Park and Carey Park Car Park.

This small rainforest-clad coral cay is surrounded by coral reefs and is one of the Great Barrier Reef's most popular destinations. A true coral cay, it was formed over thousands of years by the build-up of sand and coral rubble deposited on the calm side of a platform reef.

Three Sisters Dive Site

The Three Sisters, part of the impressive Milln Reef, can be found just a short boat trip from Cairns. The three large, colourful bommies are perhaps most famous for the Gorgonian Gorge, with the second and third sisters rising to within one metre of the surface - the three metre gap between them is constantly filled with schools of fusiliers and snapper.

Michaelmas Reef Dive Site

Michaelmas Reef is another of the wonderful dive sites off Cairns. A coral cay is located at the southern end of the reef and is home to thousands of sea birds, but more interesting for divers is the fact the island is a nesting place for turtles.

Admiralty Dive Site

Located at the southern entrance of the Osprey Reef lagoon, Admiralty is named after a large anchor wedged into a gutter at this wonderful dive site. Admiralty is a maze of gutters, ridges and bommies in depths from 10 metres to 30 metres.

Steve's Bommie Dive Site

Located north of Cairns, Steve’s Bommie is an incredible dive site located at Ribbon Reef No.3. The bommie rises from 30 metres deep up to just five metres below the water, and attracts schools of bigeye trevally, barracuda, yellow-lined snapper, Moses perch, yellow-lined goatfish and many others.

Turtle Bommie

Turtles are often encountered on the dive sites off Cairns and a good place to encounter one is Turtle Bommie. This magic dive site is located off Saxon Reef, with the terrain made up of coral gardens and a collection of small and large bommies in depths to 15 metres.

Divers exploring The Oasis at Milln Reef, off Cairns, have a choice of exploring coral gardens in the shallows or a series of bommies in deeper water. The bommies are quite spectacular, rising from 20 to 30 metres and coloured by beautiful whip corals, soft corals and gorgonians.

Positioned 20 kilometres east of Green Island off the Cairns coast, Flynn Reef is home to several dive sites - with the Coral Gardens being just one of them. Located on the outer reef this site has consistently good visibility of close to 30 metres.
