Bluewater Quay Heritage Walk

Begin your journey on Bluewater Quay and stroll the waterfront. Discover the impressive public art, a showcase of the pioneering history and current industry sectors of Mackay. The heritage-listed Leichhardt Tree can be discovered in this area.

Join Mackay Visitor Information Centre volunteers on the Heritage Walk, a guided stroll through Mackay's Central Business District to view architecturally impressive buildings, many from the 1930's Art Deco era (tours run on Wednesdays and Thursdays between May and September). This walk can also be done as a self-guided expedition.

The 90-minute walk includes historic structures that are listed with the National Trust, including the Mackay Court House.

Bluewater Quay, Jubilee Park, Mackay Cemetery and Fine Dining in the City

Gargett is located approximately 65 kilometres west of Mackay city in the picturesque Pioneer Valley. This friendly little township has a local hotel that provides meals with a very interesting bric-a-brac shop close by.

Coppabella

The town of Coppabella is a small community which lies approximately 159 kilometres south-west of Mackay. Recognised for its large mining monument at the entrance of the town, Coppabella was designed to service the junction of two railway lines, one from Goonyella Mine and the other from Saraji Mine.

Alva is a relaxed Burdekin location, 15 minutes drive from Ayr. Holiday houses and permanent residences fill the township, with Alva Beach a short stroll over the sand dune. A lookout area is located to the right as you enter the township.
