Gold Coast | Things to do

Queensland’s most famous beach resort has been drawing visitors since the 1950s. The Gold Coast is a world of contrasts, bringing together nostalgia and innovation, a vibrant nightlife with family-friendly experiences, and the best of both beaches and the hinterland.

Beaches

The Gold Coast is renowned for its relaxed beach lifestyle. Savour the sun on your skin and salt in your hair with kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, jet skis, jet packs and flyboards, or just enjoy a laid-back beach picnic. The Goldie (as the locals call it) is a surf haven, with breaks for everyone from Quiksilver Pro champs to absolute beginners (plus plenty of surf schools), as well as both family-friendly and pet-friendly beaches.

Food and drink

The Gold Coast’s dining scene is all about barefoot sophistication. Eat at an outdoor restaurant with views over the water, grab breakfast at a breezy café, then later hunt out the city’s best fine-dining al fresco options. Set off on your own craft beer odyssey through breweries, pubs and rooftop bars.

Start Exploring

Explore the Gold Coast Hinterland

When you need a break from the beaches, discover the lush Gold Coast Hinterland. Head for the Springbrook National Park to admire lush greenery and sights like the stunning Purling Brook Falls, or explore Lamington National Park and its many photogenic aspects, such as Morans Falls. Hike through sub-tropical rainforest and walk beside meandering creeks, then set up your tent and camp under the stars.

Gold Coast attractions

Get your thrills on a roller coaster or meet your favourite cartoon characters at a theme park, discover the magic of glow worms after dark at the Natural Bridge in the Springbrook National Park, and gather the gang together around a big table for street food at the Miami Marketta market. The Gold Coast also maintains a vibrant calendar of events, which range from family-friendly food stalls to the adrenaline of world-class sport competitions.
