Trying to figure out how you’re going to get to Brisbane and then get around? Here are our travel tips!

Brisbane Airport – International & Domestic terminals
The Brisbane Airport is located 15kms from Brisbane City and has a number of transport options to get you where you need to go.
  • AirTrain – will deliver you from both International & Domestic terminals into Brisbane City (and other destinations).
  • Book a door-to-door bus service to your hotel.
  • Jump in a Taxi.
  • Hire a rental car to get you into the City. Or if the Sunshine and Gold Coast is your final destination there is easy access to the Gateway Motorway.
On the road
Road trippin’ to Queensland from down South? Follow the A1 and signs into Brisbane. 
Once you’re in Brisbane, you can choose your own way to get around! 

CityCat
Whether you actually need to get to a riverside precinct or just want to get out on Brisbane’s glorious river, a ride on the CityCat is one of the must dos when you are in town.

• Jump on the CityCat from Brisbane City or South Bank and take a trip to the Brisbane Powerhouse near New Farm Park.

Trains & Buses
Brisbane’s public transport system is run by Translink.

  • Free CityLoop bus – Get from one end of the CBD to the other for free. Look out for the red buses in the city.
  • CityGlider buses – These blue buses connect the city from West End to Fortitude Valley.
  • The train system will conveniently get you around the inner-city stops like Central (Brisbane City), Fortitude Valley, South Brisbane and South Bank. 
  • You can also jump on the train to get yourself to the Sunshine and Gold Coast.

Walkways and Bikeways
Brisbane is blessed with walkways and bikeways connecting West End, South Bank and The City with New Farm and Fortitude Valley. 
  • Use the pedestrian and cycle bridges, Goodwill and Kurilpa, to get across the river.
  • Jump on a CityCycle bike to get around the inner-city.
  • Hire a bike at the City Botanic Gardens.
  • Walk the riverside pathways at South Bank.
Road tripping
If you are planning to visit the Scenic Rim, Ipswich, Logan or Somerset regions from Brisbane, hiring a car would be the best option.

Getting to the Moreton Bay Islands
  • Moreton Island – Catch a ferry from the Port of Brisbane to Moreton Island. The ferry takes about 75 – 90 minutes.
  • North Stradbroke Island – Catch a ferry from Cleveland to Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island. The ferries can take between 20 – 40 minutes.
