It’s where the bush meets the beach and where man meets beast. It’s where music creates mateship and where ute lovers rejoice. It’s R.U.M - Rodeo, Utes and Music.

Put on your best Akubra, get a little dust under the nails and head to The Golden Octopus Foundation Burdekin R.U.M Weekend. Experience a weekend long program of rodeo, utes, music and just good old fashioned fun. Cheer on Australia’s best Bull Riders from lunch time on Saturday and then dance the night away with live entertainment from The Keely Johnson Band followed by Australia’s biggest country rock band, The Wolfe Brothers.

Rise and shine on Sunday and experience North Queensland’s biggest Ute Muster featuring a stellar line up of entertainment including national rockabilly band The Hi-Boys, leading Australian Country Music duo The Long and Short Of It and Trans-Tasman Entertainer of the Year, Mason Hope.

With onsite camping available all weekend, a licenced bar and an array of food and beverages to purchase there’s no reason to leave! Yeeehaaa!

Cloncurry

The old Gregory Downs Hotel holds court as the centre of town society. Originally built to serve passengers on the coach run from Burketown, the hotel is in the historic village of Gregory Downs which accesses the perennially-flowing Gregory River.

McKinlay

Mckinlay, McKinlay Area
Located 104 kilometres south east of Cloncurry, McKinlay was named after the McKinlay River which was discovered and named by the explorer John McKinlay. McKinlay had arrived in New South Wales in 1836 and by 1861 had become such an adept bushman that he was chosen to lead the South Australian Burke Relief Expedition to search for the missing Burke and Wills.
