Mario

Noosa Heads, Noosa Area

The story and music of Mario Lanza, one of the world's first superstars.

In the 1950s Mario Lanza was a tenor superstar in Hollywood, his records topped the charts and everyone fell for his charm and beautiful voice. Ten years later, he was all washed up, dying mysteriously at the age of 38. What happened?

Mario is part opera and part music theatre and thus encompasses a broad range of musical styles. Highlights include Your Tiny Hand is Frozen, Nessun Dorma, Caro Mio Ben and The Loveliest Night of the Year.

Blake Bowden (South Pacific) sings up a storm as the stormy Lanza, while writer/satirist/ pianist and Phil Scott fills in the gaps, playing various characters in the singer's life.
