Set high on a plateau on the edge of the escarpment of Tamborine Mountain, Hillside Bed and Breakfast and Gumnut Cottage's unique location offers beautiful views across the Hinterland to the Gold Coast and Pacific Ocean. Surrounded by National Park and Reserve, Hillside is a luxurious Retreat away from the stresses of life, but within easy access of both the Mountain attractions and the Gold Coast.

Gumnut Cottage, private, nestled amongst the gum trees, offers self-contained accommodation with its own balcony where you can wake up to Nature's Song, and over a glass of wine in the evening, soak up the magic of twinkling lights. Small dogs and child friendly.

The Lyrebird Suite, self-contained, presented with a lovely breakfast hamper, or the Rose Room Suite with your breakfast cooked for you, offer you the warm friendly atmosphere of Hillside.

For those warm sunny days, splash in a tropical pool/spa to cool off, whilst in the winter months, curl up in front of your own private log fire and relax over a good book. At night enjoy the twinkling lights, the moon and stars, perhaps see a possum, as you relax in the quiet private atmosphere of Hillside Country Retreat.

Our Rooms

Gumnut Cottage is very private, away from the house with fabulous views across the Hinterland to the Pacific Ocean and Gold Coast. Set amongst the dappled shade of the surrounding trees with only birdsong for company. Very spacious with two bedrooms and a comfortable lounge, wood combustion heater (wood supplied and fire set winter months), a full kitchen including a washing machine and dining area.

The private deck has its own barbecue, and is an excellent place to put your feet up at the end of the day, sit back with a glass of wine, while the lights of the Gold Coast start illuminating the coastline.

Includes complimentary tea/coffee/sugar/milk, Port and chocolates upon arrival. Food should be self catered. A breakfast Hamper can be provided for an extra charge of AUD15 per adult (AUD10 per child).

Small to medium dogs accepted upon request to Owners. Extra charge of AUD10 per night per dog. No fences.

Includes a continental breakfast hamper for you to prepare at your leisure. Suite comprises queen bed, room has a television, DVD, and a large separate bathroom. Separate sitting room kitchenette. Heating and electric blankets for winter, or cool off in the guest swimming pool during summer. Selection of books available.

The Rose Room and Lyrebird Suites can be converted into a Double Self-contained Suite by opening an interconnecting door enabling each couple complete bedroom/bathroom privacy.

A barbecue is available for guests. Complimentary tea, coffee, milk. Port and chocolates upon arrival.

Lyrebird Suite is beautifully furnished comprising a queen bedroom, electric blankets, a large ensuite, kitchen and dining area. Outside your separate entrance is an outdoor setting, Lyrebird Suite is a real home away from home with every comfort including a log fire (wood provided and fire set, winter months), television, DVD. Fantastic views across the Hinterland. Curl up in front of the fire in winter, or cool off in our swimming pool during summer. Guest barbecue available. Selection of books and DVD's available.

Goovigen

Goovigen is a small rural village in the region’s northern farming heartland. A short distance north-west of Jambin off the Burnett Highway, fewer than 300 people live in the town. The streets of Goovigen are as neat as a pin and the heritage buildings have been either restored to their former glory or updated for present needs.

Callide Dam is located 12 kilometres from Biloela via sealed road and approximately 90 kilometres south-west of Gladstone via the Dawson Highway. While compact, the lake provides visitors with rewarding fishing - especially for golden perch (yellowbelly) and barramundi.

Wowan

Wowan, Banana Area
In its heyday, Wowan was the dairy capital of the region. With more than 600 farmers on the job, the Dawson Valley Dairy Cooperative was topped up daily with fresh supplies of full cream milk, ready to ship off to towns and cities as far away as England.

Biloela

Biloela, Banana Area
Today, Biloela is a busy commercial and tourist hub, though it still retains that relaxed, country feeling. Along with Queensland Heritage Park, a Regional Art Gallery, the Spirit of the Land Mural and the Heritage Listed Greycliffe Homestead, the town stages an impressive annual program of festivals and events.
