Base Backpackers is located right on the beach and is the only place to Stay and Play on Magnetic Island

There is a choice of dorm rooms at Base from mixed dorms to the female sanctuary dorms which includes a sanctuary pamper package on arrival.

The private tent (no tent provided) also has sea views! Camping site rates are based per person, not per tent. You must bring your own tent!

The double rooms at Base are situated right on the rocks overlooking the ocean, you will not believe the view from your room!

The Island bar has extensive decks overlooking the water, spend a lazy afternoon sipping on a drink and take in the magnificent views Base has to offer. By night the party scene comes alive with funky tunes and awesome bar games to keep the crowd entertained. The Island bar at Base is the best party bar on the island!

The Hummock

Situated off the road to Bargara is the low-lying volcanic remnant known as The Hummock which, although only 96 metres above sea-level, offers visitors good views over the whole area. The ocean is visible to the east while, to the west, the sugar fields can be seen encircling the city with the smoke stacks of the Bundaberg Distillery and Mill on the horizon.

Head to the Woongarra Marine Park on the outskirts of Bundaberg to find some of the most brilliant and easy-to-access shore diving in Queensland. There's something different everywhere you look - turtles, rays, sea snakes, nudibranchs, moray eels, a wide variety of reef fish and coral and even wobbegong sharks.

Kinkuna Section

Kinkuna section of Burrum Coast National Park preserves a wilderness area of coastal vegetation and wide, unspoilt beaches, just 30 kilometres south of Bundaberg. The Burrum Coast National Park which also incorporates both Woodgate and Burrum River sections is part of the Great Sandy Region, of which Fraser Island is best known.

MV Karma Shipwreck

Christmas came early to divers in the Bundaberg area in December 2003, when a 42 metre long gravel barge sank off the coast north of the city. That ship was the MV Karma and today it rests in 26 metres of water and is one of the best wreck dives in Queensland.

Avoca is one of the first suburbs you will drive through as you enter from the Bruce Highway into Bundaberg. It has one of the region's main shopping precincts with Sugarland Shoppingtown representing many of the larger retailers.
