Zamia Walk

Rockhampton, Rockhampton Area

If you tread softly on this walk you will be rewarded with the sights and sounds of native feathered and fury creatures. Keep an eye out for rock wallabies drinking from creeks and glossy black cockatoos feeding on she-oaks. The Zamia Walk is located within Mount Archer National Park - an area covering 4,250 hectares of open forest and woodland.

The 14 kilometre one-way trail descends from the top of Mount Archer to the park's lower entrance. At 604 metres above sea level, Mount Archer is the highest peak in the region and offers breathtaking views of Rockhampton and the surrounding ranges.

The park is home to a variety of woodland birds including vulnerable powerful owls - as well as areas of dry rainforest where rare species of plants are found.

Allow up to five hours to complete this difficult grade walk.
