Birdsville Races

Birdsville's busiest week of the year happens the first Friday and Saturday in September. Visitors take over this tiny outback town from all parts of Australia and the world for the Annual Birdsville Racing Carnival

The Paluma Push

Held in July each year, the Paluma Push is a race from the Paluma Village via the Paluma Dam through World heritage rainforest and cattle property to Hidden Valley cabins. Three courses are available, the 42 kilometre recreational course, the 53 kilometre intermediate course and the competition course which is 70 kilometres.

Hughenden Rugby 7's Carnival

The Hughenden Rugby 7's Carnival is an annual 1 day carnival bringing at least 18 rugby teams, coaches, referees and spectators together in a well respected carnival. The Hughenden Rugby 7's Carnival is becoming well known as a fun and supportive carnival, with teams as far as Mt Isa, Longreach and beyond competing.

Theodore Spindles and Spurs Campdraft

Distinctively Australian, campdrafts are a ritual of the drover, harking back to the mid-1880s and passed down through generations. Hard, fast and unforgiving, good natured gamesmanship between mates around the campfire sparked the now furious campdraft national competition that honours the elite in mustering and drafting skills.

Thangool Races
