Operation X is an annual skateboarding contest which began seven years ago when the president of The Youth Network NQ, Rachel Cook, saw a need for kids in the community to be engaged around Skateparks. The contest has grown every year, and Rachel has partnered with Donny Fraser from ASCI over the years to work as a collaborative team to grow and improve this contest every year since its inception.

The Skate Titans is a series of contests around Australia which allow local winners from different regions to compete at a high level at major contests around Australia.The collaboration of Operation X, a historical event in Townsville joining with the Skate Titans ensures Locals from the region are able to get exposure and advance their opportunities.

Eimeo Beach is sheltered and picturesque, a popular choice for swimming. During the summer months the beach is patrolled by lifeguards. The soft sand is paralleled by an esplanade park with a children's playground and barbecue facilities, the perfect location for a pretty beachside picnic.

A serene and peaceful coastline awaits at Illawong Beach. Kilometres of sandy shoreline as well as off and on dog leash areas make Illawong Beach a popular choice for sunrise strolls. At low tide, the ripples in the sand stretch for kilometres, where small blue soldier crabs can be seen scuttling across the surface.

Eimeo Beach

Located at Mackay's Northern Beaches, Black's Beach is Mackay's longest continuous beach, approximately six kilometres in length. It is a 15 minute drive from Mackay's city centre. Head north on the Bruce Highway and turn right onto the Mackay Bucasia Road, following the Black's Beach signage.

Slade Point

Slade Point is a short five minute drive from Mackay Harbour, and is one of the few locations in the region where you can enjoy both a stunning sunrise and sublime sunset. Slade Point Reserve lies at Lamberts Beach, stretching 73 hectares and conserving one of the last remaining areas of coastal dunes and paperbark wetlands in the Mackay region.
