Australian Italian Festival 2016

Ingham, Hinchinbrook Area

The Australian Italian Festival is celebrated annually, and is a fantastic event that promotes, showcases and celebrates the cultural attributes of Italian migrants and descendant's in the Hinchinbrook Shire and Australia.

It has been estimated that over half of Ingham's population has one or more Italian ancestors making it the ideal place to hold this event.

It is a celebration of all things Italian – Food, Wine, Cooking Demonstrations, Entertainment, Market Stalls, Historical display, Spaghetti Eating Challenge, Greasy Pole Challenge, Great Toga Race and much more.

The 2016 entertainment will feature acts such as fire twirling, 1RAR band, Italian Comedian James Liotta, Tenor Paul Gulinello, MKR Chefs Martino and Luciano, Tango Kraze, Tom Jones and Tina Turner Tribute Show, The Rustica Project, CIAO Freestyle Dancers and The DeBellis Show Band and many more.

Tickets are on sale now at the Townsville Tickets website and will also be sold at the gate. But if you buy now you will save up to 25 per cent off the gate price!

Walkerston is situated approximately 10 kilometres west of Mackay on the Peak Downs Highway, a small country town with an array of facilities and services, including a supermarket, bakery and pub. A key attraction in the area is the Historic Greenmount Homestead.

Edward Lloyd Park, Marian

Named for the Clerk (1921 to 1954) of the former Mirani Shire, Edward Lloyd, who was instrumental in preserving and maintaining parkland in the Shire, the park recently had a major make-over by Mackay Regional Council.

Eimeo

Eimeo Beach is sheltered and picturesque, a popular choice for swimming. During the summer months the beach is patrolled by lifeguards. The soft sand is paralleled by an esplanade park with a children's playground and barbecue facilities, the perfect location for a pretty beachside picnic.

Illawong Beach

A serene and peaceful coastline awaits at Illawong Beach. Kilometres of sandy shoreline as well as off and on dog leash areas make Illawong Beach a popular choice for sunrise strolls. At low tide, the ripples in the sand stretch for kilometres, where small blue soldier crabs can be seen scuttling across the surface.

Far Beach

Far Beach is a popular walking beach with locals, recognised for its tranquility and soft white sand. At low tide an expansive sand flat is exposed giving walkers kilometres of beach to meander. The beach provides expansive views, from Hay Point to the south and toward Flat and Round Top Islands.

Located in the Northern Beaches area of Mackay, Bucasia Beach is a picturesque sandy haven, popular for walking, swimming and fishing. Kick off your thongs (footwear) and feel the soft white sand underfoot.

Bakers Creek

Bakers Creek, Mackay Area
Bakers Creek is a small town, seven kilometres south of Mackay. The creek itself is home to some of Mackay's best fishing opportunities, however anglers are advised to stay alert as the creek is also home to wild crocodiles.
