Barcaldine, Barcaldine Area

Barcaldine and District Museum showcases the history and heritage of the Barcaldine District. Housed in the historic old National Bank Building. There are displays containing artefacts from the pioneering days of the bush. These displays include household items, machinery, photographs and paintings. Some of the most unusual items include a fruit cake make in the 1970s and an opium pot used by the Chinese population. The Museum hosts Mini Train Rides on the last Sunday of the month.

Causeway Lake Markets

The Causeway Lake Markets are held on the fourth Sunday of every month from 10am to 12pm at Causeway Lake, at the northern end of the causeway. The stalls have a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables and other homemade products.

Emu Park Lions Festival of the Wind

The Festival of the Wind at Emu Park is one of the most popular family kite festival in Australia. It is held around Easter when the winds are favourable and the large tides with the full moon lay bare large stretches of sand allowing room for both kite flying and beach activities.
