Roma's largest bottle tree, which has the incredible girth of 9.51 metres, a height of six metres and a crown of 20 metres, was transplanted by Roma Town Council to its present location from a local property in 1927.

Thallon

South from Nindigully, in the town of Thallon, giant painted grain silos act as landmarks for the town. Thallon was gazetted in 1911 and was named after the Commissioner of Railways, Mr JF Thallon. The town is surrounded by prime grain growing country and draws grain in from Weengallon, Nindigully, Mungindi, Dirranbandi and Thallon.

Surat

Wallumbilla is situated five hours travel from Brisbane, just east of Roma and has a population of approximately 320 residents. If you stop for freshly baked scones with jam and cream at Wallumbilla's Calico Cottage and Visitor Information Centre, you're sure to meet a local who will happily give you the rundown on what to see and do in town.

Nindigully

Just 45 kilometres south east of St George, Nindigully or "The Gully" as it's locally known, is pretty much four houses and a pub on a riverbank. But what a pub, what a view and what characters you'll find!

Dirranbandi

En route to Hebel, stop for a coffee, a shop and a look around Dirranbandi, the town that marks the end of the South West rail line. As you enter town you'll pass by the levee bank, which is famous for having saved the town from flooding on more than one occasion.
