If you have time on your hands, Regional Airline REX has connecting flights from Brisbane, Toowoomba, Townsville and Cairns to Outback destinations including Bedourie, Boulia, Birdsville, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Julia Creek, Longreach, Mount Isa, Quilpie, Richmond and Windorah. Train

Drive

The well-maintained highways and mostly sealed roads will connect you between the Outback towns and make travelling through the region easier than most would think. For those in search of an off-the-beaten track 4WD experience, take an alternate route between towns and follow the nature tracks and back roads to explore this remarkable part of Australia. Hiring a car would be the best option.
