Start exploring the Gold Coast

Long known as Australia’s favourite playground, the Gold Coast is a sun-drenched, vibrant city of more than 500,000 people, situated about an hour’s drive south of Queensland’s capital, Brisbane. Stretched along 55km of beaches and fringed by ancient rainforests, the Gold Coast blends a cosmopolitan lifestyle with the laid-back, unspoilt nature with soaring skyscrapers and thrill-a-minute theme parks. For the 10 million visitors who visit the Coast every year, the challenge is deciding what experiences to include – and what to leave until next time.

Learn how to surf on one of the 20 beaches sprinkled along the shoreline, hike through the Gondwana Rainforests and explore the Natural Bridge in Springbrook National Park. Discover the buzzing food and bar scene on the Goldie (as the local’s call it) and taste boutique craft beer or, enjoy fine al fresco dining.

Get active and wander through the city on two-wheels or test your mountain-biking skills in the Coombabah Lakes Conservation Area. And when you want to relax, throw down a towel on a golden beach and soak in the Queensland sun.
