Jabiru Safari Lodge at Mareeba Wetlands provides a sanctuary for outback wildlife in the heart of the 2000 hectare Mareeba Tropical Savanna and Wetlands Reserve. The Reserve is a nature refuge and protects over 2000 hectares of Savanna woodland, including 350 acres of regionally important wetlands. Income from sustainable tourism is reinvested in the Reserve to manage and research its exceptional biodiversity, such as the breeding and reintroduction program for the critically endangered Gouldian Finch.

Your lodge host and reserve guide will make you welcome and are happy to assist to make your stay memorable and rewarding. The African-style safari tented accommodation blends into the open savanna woodland providing comfortable overnight glamping style accommodation .

Their Outback experience tariff is inclusive of accommodation, tours, meals and activities. Alternatively, you can opt for the bed and breakfast rate and self-cater.

A daily wildlife safari in the custom-designed, safari vehicle allows excellent wildlife and bird life viewing while touring the Reserve at a leisurely pace. Kangaroos, wallabies and emus are regularly sighted, along with many of the Reserve's 222 bird species.

Nestled within the 2000 hectare Mareeba Wetlands Wildlife Refuge, the Lodge allows guests to experience the Outback with a Touch of Class.

The Deluxe African-style Safari Tented Accommodation has spacious ensuites, a queen and single bed standard and private front balcony. The all inclusive Outback experience includes a guided wildlife safari with each night of accommodation, 15 combined kilometres of marked walking trails and evening meals served on the Lagoon Deck.

With guest numbers limited to ten at any one time, the experience is personalised and an ideal way to escape from the crowds and observe the wildlife in its own environment. A taste of the outback in a unique wetlands environment!

Castle Rock Dive Site

Castle Rock is a tower of coral at the Agincourt Reefs, accessible from Port Douglas on a day trip. Rising from 25 metres to almost break the surface, Castle Rock is home to trevally, snappers, sweetlips, goatfish, fusiliers, surgeonfish and a very friendly Malabar groper called Colin.

Nursery Bommie Dive Site

One of the most impressive dive sites on the Agincourt Reefs, off Port Douglas, is a large pinnacle called Nursery Bommie. This column of coral rises from 2 metres to 25 metres and is decorated with sea whips, soft corals and gorgonians, but it is the fish life that will be most remembered.

The Oasis Dive Site

Divers exploring The Oasis at Milln Reef, off Cairns, have a choice of exploring coral gardens in the shallows or a series of bommies in deeper water. The bommies are quite spectacular, rising from 20 to 30 metres and coloured by beautiful whip corals, soft corals and gorgonians.
